Our Services

We handle each treatment on a case by case basis. The first step in the process is to determine if your baby does in fact have a skull deformity. This we do with accurate measurements and digitally scanning your baby’s skull. This information is inserted into specialized software, were we can determine if there is any deformity or asymmetry. If presented with a deformity, we need to calculate the severity of the deformity and from there it is important to calculate a treatment strategy. In most cases, depending on the age or deformity, we would suggest that repositioning therapy be attempted prior to designing a treatment plan that involves a cranial orthosis.

When we do decide that orthotic intervention is necessary, we fabricate a custom cranial helmet from our measurements and scans. More conventional methods includes taking impressions with plaster of Paris bandages, we find this method is sometimes traumatic for baby and parent and that is why our clinic is equipped with digital scanning equipment.  The lead time is approximately 2 weeks for us to fabricate and modify the helmet to promote a favorable outcome.

For the best outcome, we suggest follow-up consultations every 2-4 weeks during the duration of the treatment. During this process, we closely monitor the progress and modify our approach if need be. We also strongly emphasize the importance of continual updates between our clinic and the primary physician.

On average, treatment takes approximately 8-16 weeks for infants diagnosed before 6 months of age and longer if diagnosed after 12 months. This can be attributed to the fact that the infants’ skull growth slows down after 12 months.

It is important to emphasize, the earlier skull deformities are diagnosed and treated, the better the outcomes will be.
